What Causes Vaccine Crisis in Delhi?
A few days ago, Arvind Kejriwal, CM of Delhi told the country through media that adequate amount of oxygen was not being supplied by the Central government in Delhi and many main hospitals had only oxygen left for few hours, due to which many patients may die. On this, Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that there is plenty of oxygen available in the country and the central government is trying to make it available to all the states. Meanwhile, the judges of the High Court of Delhi, playing their role, directly asked the Central Government, how long will the oxygen reach in Delhi and other states and tell us in detail what your plan is on it. The central government in its reply said that a plan has been made to transport oxygen to all the states. In the nearby states, it will be transported by oxygen tankers and in other states we will take the help of railways and air force to deliver oxygen. After this, he started his work as per the above mentioned plan and also supplied oxygen in many hospitals. Apart from this, he also informed that plans are being made to set up new oxygen plants in the country and soon hundreds of oxygen plants will be set up. The work of setting up 162 oxygen plants is going on and plans are on to set up 551 new oxygen plants.
On the other hand, the Delhi government somewhat missed its role as they could not make proper arrangements to take the tankers to the right places. The High Court also reprimanded the Kejriwal government and ordered that if this responsibility was not handled by them, it would be handed over to the central government. The Delhi High Court has also ordered them to take strict action against the black marketing of oxygen in Delhi as soon as possible.
However, the Delhi government is also making several efforts for its people and has taken several steps to address the lack of oxygen. They have also decided to import oxygen plants from abroad. And they have written to the big companies of India that make oxygen asking for help, describing the situation in Delhi.
Governments are playing their role but this time it is the turn of the people.
Delhi Government's Statement:
Arvind Kejriwal said that in the last few days, like other states, there is a lot of chaos of oxygen in Delhi. There are reports of lack of oxygen in many different hospitals all the time. I myself woke up overnight and made oxygen arrangements in many hospitals so that no patient died due to lack of oxygen. The central government has helped us a lot in this bad time. The central government decides in which state how much oxygen will be supplied from other states (Where the oxygen plant is). The Delhi government imposed an assessment of which Delhi needs 700 tonnes of oxygen daily. The central government had set the quota for delivery of oxygen in Delhi to 378 tonnes, which has been increased to 480 tonnes by the central government yesterday evening. We are very grateful to the Central Government for this, although we need more oxygen but we thank them for the increase that the Central Government has made.
The central government also decides which company will give oxygen to Delhi, as oxygen is not produced in Delhi, Delhi gets all the oxygen from the outside states of Delhi. This is the work of the central government which decides how much oxygen Delhi will get from which state.
A new problem has arisen here that some of the companies in the states where these companies are in have refused to send oxygen from their state companies to Delhi. They said that first we will use it for our state and then we will supply oxygen in Delhi. But we want to thank the Central Government and the Delhi High Court, who have helped us a lot within two-three days. For the past few days, we were in constant contact with our officers of the Central Government and the Delhi High Court, which helped us a lot. I remember the day after yesterday when 1ruck in the G.T.B. hospital was supposed to come from the neighbouring state but it did not arrive, after that we called a Central Minister and he immediately talked and left the truck from there. We are trying to transport oxygen from tankers to hospitals. All of us are working 24 hours continuously and have not slept.
A large amount of oxygen is being sourced from Orissa in Delhi which may take a few days to reach. After this, he also told that the 6 days lockdown that the government had done in Delhi did not go in vain and in those 6 days, the government strengthened the health facilities so that they are getting more facilities in fighting this epidemic.
And in the end, he said that there is a lot of power in unity and if we all try to stop Corona and follow all the rules then victory will be ours.
