With the release of Indian vaccines, the Indian government started planning for the distribution in the whole mass.The government aimed to provide vaccine doses to 30 crores people first. It was decided that vaccination will be in two stages .
First stage vaccination:
The first stage vaccination was started on January 16, in which healthcare and frontline workers like doctors, nurses, police, etc. was vaccinated.
It was planned to vaccinate 30 million or 3 crores people in the first stage.
About 5 million people was vaccinated in the first 21 days , which is a nice achievement of the government. Whereas, other countries like UK achieved this result in 43 days , US in 24 days and Israel in 45 days.
This stage was successfully completed before the last week.
Second stage vaccination:
After the first phase of vaccination , the second phase was started on March 1 .
In this phase local public are vaccinated , and it began by the vaccination of our honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
It is aimed to provide vaccine to about10 crores people in this phase. And more than 2 crores people have been inoculated till now.

Who will be vaccinated?
The people of above 60 years and the people of the agegroup of 45-60 with any comorbidities are allowed to take vaccine shots through
Covid Vaccination Centres(CVCs).
The list of comorbidities is released by the government , they are:
1. Heart failure with hospital admission in past one year
2. Post cardiac transplant/ Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD)
3. Significant Left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVEF < 40%)
4. Moderate or Severe Valvular Heart Disease
5. Congenital heart disease with severe PAH or Idiopathic PAH
6. Coronary Artery Disease with past CABG/ PTCA/ MI and Hypertension/ Diabetes on treatment
7. Angina and Hypertension/ Diabetes treatment
8. CT/MRI documented stroke and Hypertension/Diabetes on treatment
9. Pulmonary artery hypertension and Hypertension/ Diabetes on treatment 10. Diabetes (>10 years or with complication) and Hypertension on treatment
11. Kidney/Liver/Hematopoietic stem cell transplant: Recipient/ On wait-list
12. End stage Kidney Disease on haemodialysis/ CAPD
13. Current prolonged use of oral corticosteroids/ immunosuppressant medications
14. Decompensated cirrhosis
15. Severe respiratory disease with hospitalisations in last two years/ FEVI <50%
16. Lymphoma/ Leukaemia/ Myeloma
17. Diagnosis of any solid cancer on or after July 1, 2020 or currently on any cancer therapy
18. Sickle Cell Disease/ Bone marrow failure/ Aplastic Anemia/ Thalassemia Major
19. Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases/ HIV infection
20. Persons with disabilities due to Intellectual disabilities/ Muscular Dystrophy/ Acid attack with involvement of respiratory system/ Persons with disabilities having high support needs/ Multiple disabilities including deaf-blindness
How to get vaccinated in second stage?
The persons who are eligible for vaccination according to the above criteria can get vaccine directly through CVCs. For more information , you can visit to the nearest government healthcare centres and also a person can take vaccine dosage from a private healthcare centres by consulting with the staffs or doctors.
Also one can register for vaccination on a government Web Portal (Cowin Portal) made for registration of people in second stage vaccination. For more information , read this.
How to register in Cowin portal?
To register in Cowin Portal , follow the given steps:

---You will find a register button and a register with Aarogya Setu button .
---Click on the Register button . One can click on the Register with Aarogya Setu button if he/she
has Aarogya Setu app in his or her phone.
---After clicking the button , you will get the following interface:
---As given, Enter your Phone number and click on Get OTP .
--- You will receive an OTP through SMS if your phone number is correct. Then enter the OTP in the next interace .
---After that a new screen will open, where you have to enter a photo id (like Aadhar card), photo id number (if you select Aadhar card in the first option, then you have to enter Aadhar number ) and then select your gender and enter DOB.
---After this, click on register.
Some more information:
You can select the date of vaccination, vaccination centre, and slot according to your choice.
You can delete and modify your details in this portal before the time of vaccination.
You can register for four persons with the same phone and phone number.
One can not delete or modify his data after vaccination.
Which vaccine is safe?
There are two vaccines used for vaccination against covid 19 virus and both are safe to use. These vaccines are examined completely and released by the permission of government.
These vaccines are :
Covaxin prepared by Bharat Biotech and other is Covishield designed by Serum Institute in Pune.
But for your information ,
the recovery rate of Covaxin is 80-90% and that of Covishield is about 62%.
What are the side-effects of vaccines?
In general there are no high side effects of the vaccine.
But in some cases, the side-effects are:
- Pain, swelling, or redness where the shot was given
- Headache
- Muscle and joint aches
- Mild fever
- Feeling tired
In which conditions, a person cannot be vaccinated?
- Those who have allergies, fever
- Have bleeding disorder or are on a blood thinner
- Those who are immune-compromised or are on a medicine that affects your immune system
- Those who are pregnant
- Those who are breastfeeding
And who have other serious health-related issues, as determined by the vaccinator/officer supervising vaccination, must not take take the vaccine before consulting a doctor. People who have taken another anti-Covid vaccine should not take other anti-covid vaccine.
